This is the first time I am writing on the web and I am glad that this is about a subject which is very close to my heart.

Madhubani painting is an ancient folk art of Bihar that has stood the test of times through its exquisiteness and authenticity. Madhubani painting was born when king Janaka ordered the entire vastness of his empire to be decorated with the colors of happiness at the felicitous occasion of the marriage of his four daughters.
Since then, Madhubani paintings have become a symbol of auspiciousness and an integral part of the rich Bihari culture. They still exist in the form of 'Kohbar Art' which decorates the bridal chambers of Bihari marriages.

Madhubani painting has a lot of fluidity. It is like a snapshot of life, frozen in time, accentuated by all vibrant colors of nature, as if each corner of the madhubani painting is inviting your eyes, to explore and admire the intricacies of its form and wild imagination of its maker.
It tells you a story - whether it be of Sita putting a 'varmalaa' into Ram or Radha and Krishna sitting in a loving embrace. The theme along with the excuisite presentatation is wildly enchanting.

The most intriguing part of Madhubani paintings is the juxtaposition of child like simplicity and complexity of a very mature art form.
Madhubani painting doesn't need anybody to have any formal knowledge in painting. All it needs is a mind, willing to knock at the door of imagination. It offers boundless possibilities and myriad choices in color, theme and patterns.

It is not a crime in Madhubani painting to have a beautiful fish adorn the plumes of a vibrant peacock. It is not a crime either, to draw a tortoise to fill up the empty space in the painting. The faces of the heroines need not be as pretty as a picture. It doesn't matter, because in the end, what will come out will be a perfect master-piece in all senses. It takes to you new realm of creativitiy where you are limited only by the bounds of your own imagination. The paintings are surreal to look at, because there are so many things going on in the painting. Something which is so colorful and vibrant is sure to catch the attention of the beholder and captivate him.

Personally for me , Madhubani painting works as therapy. They give me an immense sense of accomplishment for having created something so beautiful and captivating. My paintings adorn my whole home and they surely make it a more beautiful place to live in. For me it is a source of contant joy and beauty. They impart a sense of great pride to me knowing that they are my creations.

Few of my creations are shown here.. I really hope you like my paintings. Your comments and suggestions are most welcome.
